This was the flagship campaign from Huawei to celebrate the 2016 Copa America... but really a chance for Huawei to show off Messi, having recently pinched him from Samsung. 

The brief from BBDO was to get inside Messi's head as he prepared to take a free kick while those inner voices of doubters are visually projected into the goal box in front of him. 

The client wanted to replicate some of the shots and tone from my Adidas ‘Fast vs Fast’ spot, which I was hesitant to do, but Messi liked the script and was down with a sequel. 

The music, inspired by Ennio Morricone's score for The Big Gun Down, nails the operatic melodrama of the beautiful game.
